Chapter History

For the Alpha Epsilon Graduate Chapter, it all began in April 2004 when Jessica Rodriguez began the journey of expanding the New York Graduate Interest Group. Through consistent communication with the then National Director of Expansion, Yvonne Garcia, the group managed to increase in numbers. By the end of May 2004, the New York Graduate Interest Group expanded to include Marisol Cordero, Janette Cruz, and Danielle Hawkins, who would later go on to become founding sisters along with Jessica Rodriguez. The ladies came together to make a difference in the community and in the months to come the group executed various community services and educational programs that ranged from feeding the homeless to educating the youth about college. The group eventually grew to include other women, all from different walks of life.

In May 2005, the New York Graduate Interest Group evolved to a group comprised of multi-cultural women, from various college institutions including Binghamton University, Hunter College School of Social Work, Seton Hall School of Law, Stony Brook University, and Utica College of Syracuse University. After many years of rigorous work in previous college interests groups, ten ladies united to take the next step into the sisterhood of Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority Incorporated with admirable dedication and loyalty.

On August 6, 2005, Alpha Epsilon Graduate Chapter of New York was founded by ten Founding Sisters: Kilsy Hidalgo, Janette Cruz, Leydi Espinal, Jessica Rodriguez, Marisol Cordero, Danielle Hawkins, Yunnely Martinez, Stacy Bonano, Katherine Hiraldo and Priscilla Hidalgo.

Lambda Eta Alumnae Chapter strived to exemplify our principles and strengthen our sisterhood through education, self-awareness and sisterhood bonding by motivating alumnae in the New York area to become involved. In addition, it created a warm and welcoming atmosphere for all sisters regardless of semester, chapter, area of origin, or active status. Lambda Eta represented the New York-based alumnae of Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Incorporated with the utmost professional attitude in the execution of chapter meetings, events, community service projects and other Lambda Theta Alpha related activities. Lambda Eta Alumnae Chapter was established by six Chartering Sisters: Angelica Ferraras (Xi Chapter, Fall 1993), Jessica Serrano-Cartagena (Chi Chapter, Spring 1996), Amanda Roman (Xi Chapter, Fall 2000), Lydia Gonzalez (Xi Chapter, Fall 2000), Kathy Rivera (Xi Chapter, Fall 2002) and Jenilee Ramirez (Xi Chapter, Fall 2002).

Alpha Epsilon Graduate Chapter of New York and Lambda Eta Alumnae Chapter unified on January 15, 2013, to become
